Don't Let Your email Get Stuck in Spam Folders

If email or an ezine is one of your marketing strategies, you know that there's always a chance your email may go to your subscribers' spam folder. Large Internet Service Providers like Yahoo, Google, AOL, and MSN filter millions of spam messages.

They use filters that search for words commonly used in spam messages and move these messages to a spam folder. If you want to avoid having your messages filtered, you need to avoid using certain words.

Some common ones to avoid:

  • You're a winner!
  • Information you requested
  • Limited time
  • Act now
  • FREE
  • Free offer
  • Free trial
  • Free leads
  • Free website
  • Free investment
  • Free grant money
  • Increase traffic
  • Serious cash
  • Cash bonus
  • Free preview
  • No investment
  • Get paid
  • Real thing
  • Please read
  • Pennies a day
  • Compare rates
  • Reverse aging
  • Free installation
  • Amazing stuff
  • Promise you
  • Pure profit

Using spam phrases won't automatically get your messages blocked, but chances are high that it will. They add up throughout your message. Be especially careful to avoid using spam words in your email's subject.

They'll make your messages look like spam to both the content filters and your subscribers. Also, make sure you avoid putting things like exclamation points, quotations and dollar signs into your subject. These virtually mark your messages as spam.

If you need to use any spammy phrases, get creative with your wording. It may be best to use very specific messages. For example, consider replacing "Act now !" with "Offer ends on July 12." The more specific your message, the less likely you will get caught by spam filters.

Of course, you could also ask your subscribers to add you to their email contacts list. If you're on that list, your email will be automatically delivered to your subscribers inbox. However, a large percentage of subscribers won't bother adding you.
